The Skills Development Fund Division is entrusted to disburse loans from the Skills Development Fund to students pursuing technical and vocational courses in public and private training institutions. This Fund takes effect from 2nd January 2001. However, the loans are available only for courses accredited by the National Vocational Training Council which meet the requirement of the Malaysian Skill Certificate Level 1 to 5.

The loans will be given to Malaysian full time or part time students in public and private vocational and technical institutions. The maximum loan available will be RM5,000.00 per annum and will be for the duration of the accredited course. An administrative charge of four per cent per annum will be levied on the loan. The loan is repayable over a maximum period of 15 years. Repayment of the loan to the Fund has to commence six months after the completion of the course or when the borrower starts working, whichever is earlier. There must be two guarantors for the loan.
