ISKL International Baccalaureate Scholarship 2008
The International School of Kuala Lumpur is offering two International Baccalaureate scholarships to Malaysian Citizens who will complete the SPM exams in 2007.
The scholarship, worth over RM 100,000.00 each will cover tuition fee for the two-year course beginning August 2008 inclusive of the external examination fee.
ISKL has been offering the IB Diploma programme since 1991. The IB Diploma is recognized as a university entrance qualification in over 100 countries, including Malaysia. IB graduates gain admission to prestigious colleges and universities throughout the world. Students with strong IB examination results may also receive advance standing or course credit, depending upon the policy of the institution they are attending. Many also are awarded sizeable scholarships and grants. The IB is a complete programme that in preparation for university life. In its mission statement, the International Baccalaureate Organization states that the IB was developed to assist schools to “develop the individual talents of young people and teach them to relate the experience of the classroom to the realities of the world outside.”
Headmaster, Paul Chmelik states: “The IB program is a very demanding academic course of studies which provides the best pre-university training available in the world today. The prestigious IB diploma is sought after by the finest universities in Britain, Canada and the United States of America. At ISKL, we encourage as many students as possible to embark on the IB program.”
Candidates must have excellent academic records at SPM. For instance, they should have an aggregate of not more than 10 and not less than an A2 in any of the individual subjects in SPM. Candidates can apply using their final term exam results.
The candidates should also excel in extra-curricular activities and have demonstrated a commitment to community service.
Applicants must not be holding any other financial award from another organization and they must be willing to provide evidence of financial need.
Only students who fulfill the above criteria are eligible to apply. Interested applicants should submit the following documents:
- personal statement from applicant
- certified previous school records (last 3 years)
- final term exam results for school year 2007
- certified copies of SPM results (presented at the panel interview in April 2008)
- teacher recommendations
- certified copies of extra-curricular activities
- certified copies of previous commitment to community services
Application with the relevant documents must reach ISKL by January 31, 2008.

The Scholarship
The scholarship candidates will begin school in August 2008 continuing through to June 2010. The scholarship is equivalent to a two-year study of the International Baccalaureate Diploma program at The International School of Kuala Lumpur. The IB scholarship Award covers the following costs:
- Tuition
- Application Fees
- Registration
- Land & Building Fund
- IB exam
- Books
- Field trips that are included within the tuition fees (compulsory for the IB Program)
- Bussing provided if bus contractor covers the selected candidate’s residential route.
The Scholarship does not cover costs listed below:
- Cost for participation in the IASAS sports/activities
- Optional field trips
- School uniforms
- Calculator
