The Star Education Fund, established by Star Publications (M) Bhd since 1994 with the primary objective of providing educational opportunities to deserving young Malaysians, invites eligible candidates to apply for The Star Education Scholarship Awards 2008 to pursue full time undergraduate studies at local universities in the following disciplines:

FIELD OF STUDY
UM, UKM, UPM, USM & UUM

* Bachelor of Accountancy
* Bachelor of Computer Science
* Bachelor of Information Technology

UTAR

* Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Graphic Design & Multimedia

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates must:

* Be Malaysian citizens of not more than 25 years of age as at 1st January 2008.
* Possess good academic records (STPM or equivalent).
* Possess strong leadership qualities through active participation in extra curricular activities.
* Not be bonded to or in receipt of any financial aids from other educational institutions or organizations.
* Have gained admission to the local public universities for approved courses of study.

SCHOLARSHIP TERMS & CONDITIONS

The scholarship is:

* Valued at RM7,500 for public universities and RM10,000 for UTAR per academic year
* Tenable for the minimum period required by the recipient to complete the course.
* Successful candidates may be required to serve Star Publications (M) Bhd upon completion of their studies.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

1. To obtain an application form, please submit a stamped (40 sen) self-addressed envelope (25cm x 30cm) and indicate the course applied for in the top left-hand corner of the envelope or DOWNLOAD THE APPLICATION FORM HERE.

2. Completed application forms with the required supporting documents listed in the application forms must be received by 15th July 2008. Late applications will not be accepted. Only short-listed candidates will be notified.

3. The Star Education Fund Committee will conduct interviews and candidates will be selected in open competition on the basis of a combination of factors, which include academic performance, family background, active involvement in extra curricular activities and personal qualities.
