Talisman Malaysia Scholarship 2014

Talisman Malaysia Ltd has given its commitment to provide about RM2.3 million of scholarship for students taking oil and gas related engineering programmes or courses in the local institutes of higher learnings.

Talisman Ltd Senior Vice-President and Country Manager, Ron Aston said UMS had become the fourth prestigious local university to enter a partnership programme with Talisman in addition to University Teknologi Malaysia, University of Malaya and Universiti Sains Malaysia.

“Through this programme partnership, 30 undergraduates and post-graduates from engineering disciplines will get the benefit within a five-year period commencing from the 2014 academic year,” he said at a press conference after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Malaysia Sabah on the partnership, here today.

At the signing ceremony, UMS was represented Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research of Innovation) Prof Dr Shahrul Yusuf.

According to Aston, the scholarship was part of Talisman Malaysia’s contribution toward human capital development among the bright young Sabahans as well as encouraging them to consider oil and gas industry as their career options.

He said Talisman Malaysia also gave real experience about the oil and gas industry to students and since 2008 about 60 students had benefited from the programme.

The Talisman Malaysia Limited Scholarship focuses on programs that are relevant to the company’s upstream oil and gas business in Malaysia, namely geology, geophysics and petroleum and chemical engineering.

    My son who is doing his A-Levels in Kolej Tuanku Jaafar Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia will be sitting for his AS papers in may – June 2014. Based on his trials he is a potential A+ student. Papers , he will be sitting are in physics, chemistry, maths and further pure maths. He intends to pursue a degree /masters in chemical engineering in Imperial colleageor in any reputable universities in London. He has scored 98% for physics, 97% for chemistry and biology, 96 % for maths in his IGCSC( o-levels) in 2013. Would like to know whether a scholarship can be obtained for an overseas degree/masters.

    My daughter has a offer from Imperial College to do Geology. She has done IGCSE and is completing her Canadian Pre -U in June. Which scholarships can she apply for? Thank you.
