University of Portsmouth MBA Scholarships

THE University of Portsmouth Business School in the United Kingdom is offering scholarships to students keen to pursue its full-time MBA (International) programme.

The programme, introduced in 2001, received accreditation from the globally-recognised Association of MBAs last year.

Innovative features of the MBA course include the chance to attend a one-week conference in Maastricht, the Netherlands.

This gives participants the chance to network with practising managers in the United Kingdom from the MBA Executive programme and also help them gain a European perspective on management styles.

Four scholarships of £3,000 each (RM18,637) will be awarded to successful applicants based on previous management experience and academic achievement.

The university is also offering a 10% bursary in the form of a discount on the course fee of £14,000 (RM86,972) for self-funding, international students.

Closing date for the scholarships is May 15.

Korean Government Scholarship

THE Government of the Republic of Korea is offering scholarships for up to 10 Malaysian students to pursue undergraduate studies in Korea.

The scholarships will cover tuition fees for five years of studies – one year for studying the Korean language and four years for the degree programme.

Besides tuition fees, other benefits include round-trip airfare, a monthly allowance of about RM2,500, settlement and repatriation allowance, language training expenses as well as medical insurance.

Applicants must be below 25 years old and have finished a total of 12 years of formal education as of Feb 29.

They should also possess a good command of English and be willing to promote friendly relations between Malaysia and the Republic of Korea.

Closing date for applications is April 7.

The WMU Presidential Alumni Scholarship

The Diether H. Haenicke Institute for Global Education is pleased to announce the WMU Presidential Alumni Scholarship. A limited number of scholarships will be awarded to eligible applicants nominated by WMU alumni for up to four years (eight semesters) or the completion of the first undergraduate degree—whichever occurs first.

Application review for the 2008-2009 academic year will begin March 1, 2008 and end May 1, 2008 or when all scholarships have been awarded.

The WMU Presidential Alumni Scholarship will be awarded based on the criteria below. These scholarships require full-time enrollment (12+ credit hours per semester).

Eligibility Criteria

  • First-time undergraduate student at WMU enrolling for Fall 2008, who are nominated by a WMU alumna or alumnus. The nominator’s letter must include their full name, current address, year of their WMU graduation, the degree earned and the name and contact information of the nominee. The nominator’s letter must be submitted to Juan Tavares, WMU senior international admissions counselor, via conventional mail or e-mail at the same time the WMU application is submitted.
  • Secondary or transfer school cumulative grade point average of 3.5 (4.0 scale).
  • TOEFL score of 500 (173 cbt, 62 ibt) OR IELTS 6.0.

Awards & Maintenance Criteria

  • $10,000 for year one and $8,000 per year for up to three years (eight semesters total) or the point which the student earns a first undergraduate degree, whichever occurs first.
  • The award will be applied only toward tuition and fees and for the fall and spring semesters (no summer sessions).
  • Scholarship recipients must maintain full-time enrollment, satisfactory academic status and earn a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 while at WMU. Academic histories will be reviewed at the end of each academic year.
  • Recipients must also retain their nonresident status.

Scholarships from Indian govt

The Indian government has announced a scholarship programme for the children of persons of Indian origin and non-resident Indians.

The scholarships were offered for undergraduate, professional and general courses in India for the academic year 2008-2009.

However, the scholarships do not apply for medicine and medical-related courses.

The scholarship is 75 per cent of the institutional economic cost, which includes tuition and hostel fees and other charges, or US$3,600 (RM11,500), whichever is lesser.

Applicants must sit a common entrance test, which will held at the high commission on May 18.

Application forms can be downloaded from the Indian High Commission website. The forms must be sent to The Project Manager (SPDC), Educational Consultants India Limited (Ed. CIL), P&S Division Ed. CIL House-18A, Sector-16-A, Noida-201 301, Uttar Pradesh, India, not later than April 4.

“Liu Lit Mo Overseas Student Scholarships 2008″ for 2008-09 Undergraduate Studies at Lingnan University, Hong Kong

The Scholarships:

  • HK$100,000 (i.e. about US$12,853)per year for each awardee, covering tuition fee, hostel and other academic and living expenses.
  • Each scholarship is offered on an annual renewable basis and is tenable for a period of up to 3 years, subject to continued outstanding academic performance.

Eligibility:

  • School students who have completed 7 years of secondary education.
  • College students who have completed 6 years of secondary education plus one year of study in a 4-year undergraduate curriculum.
  • Students who have satisfactorily completed the 1st or 2nd year of a 4-year undergraduate curriculum will be admitted to the 1st or 2nd year of a Lingnan programme.
  • Students may be required to gain a minimum of Grade C in English in the GCE O-Level or GCSE Examination or an equivalent public examination; or a TOEFL score of 213 in the computer-based test, or 550 in the paper-based test, or 79 in the internet-based test; or an IELTS overall band score of 5.5.

Selection Criteria:
The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has good academic standing and a good track record in community services. For candidates of comparable academic merits, the scholarship will be awarded to the candidate with better proven records of community services.

A student normally takes 3 years of full-time study to complete a programme for the award of a bachelor’s degree, except the Contemporary English and Education programme which requires 4 years for completion. TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Programs 2008

The Vijayashanker Foundation Award for Actuarial Science

The Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE) is pleased to
announce its first competition for grants under the Vijayashanker Foundation Award for
students interested in pursuing an undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree in the field of Actuarial Science at a regionally accredited US university in the fall of 2008.

A m ou n t an d P eriod of A w ard
The Vijayashanker Foundation will provide partial tuition scholarship up to two years in the US for this competition. Preference will be given to candidates from American Degree twinning or transfer programs (ADP) at local colleges. This award will only cover the tuition in the US.
Eligibility
To be considered for selection under this program, students shall:

  1. Possess Malaysian citizenship;
  2. Be no more than 30 years of age at the time of application;
  3. Completed at least first semester of second year of ADP;
  4. Have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.33 during ADP;
  5. Demonstrate quantitative ability through the ADP program;
  6. TOEFL and SAT requirements are based on the student’s school of choice. If your university does not require these tests for application, you are NOT required to submit the tests results to MACEE or vice versa.
  7. Students are not required to be accepted to a US university in order to apply for this scholarship, but students are REQUIRED to apply and be accepted to a US university by May 2008 in order to fully qualify for the award if they are nominated by the committee.

Assistance with university selection and application will be provided by MACEE.
The Following Individuals Are Not Eligible:

  1. Individuals who are or have already been enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at an American university and who seek nomination in order to complete said program.
  2. Individuals who seek nomination in order to complete a second bachelor’s degree.

Application Procedures
1. Students can download the application form from www.macee.org.my and 5 hard copies of application must be submitted at the below address with the following
documents attached:

  • 5 CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES of ADP transcript(s) for all years of academic study.
  • 5 CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES of your SPM results.
  • 5 CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES of admission offer from US university (if  available).
  • 5 CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES of TOEFL and SAT score reports (if required by your university for admissions).
  • 2 letters of reference (at least one from an ADP professor under whom you have studied). Letter of references must be printed on a letterhead and sealed in an envelope by your referees.
  • 1 copy of Counselor Evaluation Form from your ADP coordinator or assistant coordinator. This form must be SEALED in an envelope by your ADP counselor or coordinator.
  • 5 photographs attached to the application forms.
  • 5 copies of 1 page personal statement on why you need this award, your futuregoals and your expected contributions to the development of Malaysia.

2. The completed application and supporting documents can be sent by mail or hand
delivered to MACEE, but must arrive NO LATER THAN March 28th, 2008, to be
considered. MACEE is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please
contact MACEE for further information.

3. Applications received after said date will not be processed.

4. Students are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to meet an educational advisor at their college
or MACEE for admission information into US Universities.

appropriate institutions in the US. At this time period, students should also be
prepared to apply to the schools of their choice.

Full Tuition Scholarship for Malaysia National

Thunderbird has dedicated a full tuition scholarship for a successful applicant of Malaysian nationality for the Fall 2008 intake. Application deadline: April 28, 2008

Details:
