Bank Negara Malaysia Scholarship Award 2008 / 2009 Academic Session

FIELD OF STUDIES:

Economics, Financial Engineering, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Banking And Finance, Corporate Finance, Islamic Banking And Economics, Law, Syariah Law, Information Technology, Mathematics.

A. PRE-UNIVERSITY, OVERSEAS PREPARATORY PROGRAMME ( Application closed )

* A-LEVEL, AMERICAN FOUNDATION PROGRAM, AUSTRALIAN MATRICULATION

Minimum Requirements

* Passed the 2007 SPM examination with at least 8 1A’s
* Not exceeding 19 years old of age on 1 July 2008

Additional Requirements

* Good command of the English language, both written and oral
* Flexible, versatile and posses high teamwork capabilities
* Excelled in both extra-curricular activities and sports

Sponsorship to pursue Bachelor Degree (Honours) at foreign universities will be extended subject to meeting the approved criteria.

B. FIRST DEGREE (HONOURS) ( Click here to apply )

* LOCAL AND FOREIGN UNIVERSITIES

Minimum Requirements

Fulfilling at least one of the following criteria:

* STPM / A-Level - at least 2 A and 1 B; or
* Diploma / Matriculation - Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate (CGPA) of at least 3.50; or
* Australian Matriculation - TER of at least 85% ; or
* For candidates currently pursuing First Degree - Current CGPA of at least 3.50.
* Passed SPM with credits in Bahasa Melayu and English subjects
* Not exceeding 25 years of age on 1 July 2008
* Have confirmed or will be offered a place to pursue a First Degree in 2008 at recognised local or foreign universities

Additional Requirements

Students who are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) at recognised foreign universities are also eligible to apply.

C. MASTER’S DEGREE AND PhD

* (LOCAL and FOREIGN UNIVERSITIES)

Minimum Requirements

* Obtained a First Class (Honours) Bachelor / Master’s Degree or equivalent from recognised local and foreign universities
* Will pursue courses that will add value to the roles and functions of Bank Negara Malaysia
* Not exceeding 30 years old for Master and 35 years old for PhD.
* Passed SPM with credits in Bahasa Melayu and English subjects
* Have confirmed or will be offered a place to pursue Master’s / Doctorate Degree in 2008 at recognised local or foreign universities

Those who fulfilled the minimum requirements are required to send a written application to Scholarship Section, Bank Negara Malaysia along with these documents:

* Curriculum Vitae / Resume
* Certified copy of Bachelor Degree’s / Master’s Degree’s results
* Letter of recommendation from previous or current university
* One (1) page of Abstract / Executive Summary of your proposed research

Post graduate students who are currently pursuing Master’s Degree or Doctorate Degree (PhD) at recognised local or foreign universities are also eligible to apply.

The OCBC Local Undergraduate Scholarship

The OCBC Local Undergraduate Scholarship, established in the 1970s, provides financial assistance to students who have gained admission or are eligible for admission into first year full-time undergraduate studies at local Malaysian universities. The scholarship is also open to undergraduates of these institutions.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Excellent Matriculation / STPM results and extra-curricular records.
  • Preference will be given to Malaysian citizens.

Tenure and Benefits of the Scholarship Award

  • Each scholarship is valued at RM10,000.00 per annum.
  • The scholarship is tenable for the minimum period leading to a first degree and an additional year if admitted to a Honours course, subject to outstanding academic performance.
  • OCBC Bank will offer internship opportunities to provide you with the opportunity to gain first-hand experience working in the Bank.
  • No bond is required. OCBC Bank may offer you employment, based on merit.
  • You must not hold any other scholarship, fellowship or award without prior approval of your University and OCBC Bank.

Hong Leong Foundation Scholarship Programme

The Hong Leong Group Malaysia, through Hong Leong Foundation, has long been committed to a policy of social responsibility by contributing towards the welfare of the society.

The Hong Leong Foundation Scholarship Programme is aimed towards helping young and deserving Malaysians who have achieved excellent academic results to attain their goals and be successful in life. Besides financial assistance, the programme provides personal development opportunities to help graduates reach their full potential.

Eligibility

  1. The scholarships are awarded to students pursuing courses in Accounting, Law, Business Studies, Finance & Management, Science / Actuarial Science, Engineering (all fields), Hotel Management, IT, Computer Science & Creative Multimedia.
  2. The academic requirements for sponsorship
  • SPM - at least 5As and 2 passes from a minimum of 7 subjects.
  • STPM - at least 3As and a pass in the General Paper .
  • CGPA - at least 3.5 for Diploma or Matriculation

About Sponsorship & Contractual Obligation

  1. It is open to Malaysian citizens, who sat for the SPM/STPM/Diploma/Matriculation examination in 2007
  2. The scholarship is only for full time courses conducted in Malaysia. It is a non-bonding scholarship. There is no obligation to serve the Group, though you are encouraged to join the Group.
  3. You are not allowed to change course without prior approval from Hong Leong Foundation.

The agreed amount will be banked into the student’s Hong Leong Bank account once a year.

Application should be based on your first choice of course/field of study and institution applied to. Between 25 to 30 awards will be granted a year.

The scholarship amount

  • Undergraduate studies at local universities RM 7,000/= p.a.
  • Diploma/Advanced Diploma courses at local institutions RM 5,000/= p.a.
  • Undergraduate studies at local private universities Up to RM20,000/= p.a. ( “3+0” degree programmes on full-time and on-campus basis)

The amount awarded will be paid out once a year for the duration of your course.

THE HSBC SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

  • Full time student in a recognized local Public or Private universities or college inclusive of twinning programme.

Criteria:

  • Malaysian citizen, below 25 years of age
  • SPM minimum 5 distinction; or
  • Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran (STPM) minimum 2As and 2Bs and a pass in General Studies; or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of minimum of 3.00 for Diploma / Matriculation / Foundation.

Scholarship Package:

  • 3 years full-time degree course.
  • Private Universities/Colleges (twinning programme) – RM24,000.00
  • Public Universities – RM18,000.00 (Disbursed over a period of 3 years (RM8,000/RM6,000 per annum respectively)
  • No bonding required.
  • Applicants must not be in receipt of any other scholarships, or award from any educational institutions, or any other organizations/foundation
